Commuting in Japan

This is a picture I took in Japan at Shinagawa train station around 10:00am. I am sure 99% of people working in Tokyo commute by train.
If this is the image of Seattle commute the city and state governments are imaging, I don't know if I like it. Commuting scene reminds me of ants.
At the peak time around 8:30, there will be at least five times as many people walking in same direction.
