PSPINC Dreamersi External Link Verification Helps Expose Suspicious Links

Spoofing emails are becoming increasingly difficult to recognize. An email may display a familiar company name, logo, colors, and professional-looking message. However, the link inside the email may take you somewhere completely different.

 

The example shown above appears to be an Apple iCloud account cancellation notice. It warns that the recipient’s account is being deactivated and encourages the recipient to click “Cancel Request.” This sense of urgency is a common technique used in phishing emails.

 

When the link is clicked, Dreamersi’s External Link Verification screen appears before opening the destination. It clearly shows that the link is going to:

The verification screen gives the user an opportunity to review the destination and choose either “Cancel” or “Proceed.” If the displayed domain is unfamiliar or does not match the company that supposedly sent the email, the safest choice is to cancel.
