It is easy to say, but difficu...

言うは易く行うは難し
Iu wa yasuku, okonau wa katashi.
“It is easy to say, but difficult to do.”

The Japanese proverb 言うは易く行うは難し means that talking about what should be done is easy, but actually doing it is much harder.

You can make promises, give advice, point out mistakes, or explain what someone else should have done. None of that requires you to face the real difficulties of execution.

Doing does.

Once you act, you must deal with costs, consequences, compromises, unexpected problems, and responsibility for the result.

This is especially relevant in modern politics.

Criticizing a president, government, political party, or policy is easy. Social media makes it even easier.

But criticism should lead to the next question:

So, what are you going to do?

If you oppose a policy, what is your alternative? How would you implement it? What would it cost? What consequences are you willing to accept?

Saying “No” cannot be the entire solution.

言うは易く行うは難し。

Criticism is easy.
Solutions are hard.
