Discover Another Side of Japan — Visit a Trade Show

When you travel to Japan, you probably think about sightseeing, enjoying great food, shopping, and experiencing Japanese culture. Those are all wonderful reasons to visit Japan.

But I would like to suggest something different. Why not visit a trade show while you are there?

Japan hosts many fascinating trade shows throughout the year, covering everything from technology and automobiles to food, fashion, crafts, and consumer products.

One of my favorites is the Tokyo International Gift Show, held twice a year at Tokyo Big Sight.

The next show, the 103rd Tokyo International Gift Show Spring 2027, will take place February 24–26, 2027, with approximately 3,000 exhibitors expected.

What makes this show interesting is that you can discover products, designs, and business ideas that you may never see outside Japan. Some are traditional Japanese products, while others represent new technologies and creative innovations.

You don't have to be planning to start a business to find inspiration at a trade show. Sometimes, seeing something different is enough to give you a completely new perspective.

Of course, check the show's admission requirements before visiting, as many trade shows are intended for business professionals.

The next time you plan a trip to Japan, look up the trade shows happening during your stay.

You might discover something far more interesting than another tourist attraction.

And who knows? You might even discover your next business opportunity.
